These Chinese islands were occupied by Portuguese Jesuits for several hundred years… Islands where the main attraction (apart from several huge Casinos) is the facade wall of a Cathedral (the rest burned down almost 200 years ago)… Islands where street names are written on handmade tiles in Portuguese and Chinese… Islands where most visitors come to lose their money…
I was there for just one day. It was rainy (and I wasn’t prepared). Since I don’t like the idea of wiping out my life savings in an hour in a casino, I had to stay outside, so it was not a very comfortable day… But it was well compensated by the strange and slightly exotic atmosphere…
