Out of 28 days in Ethiopia, we spent at least 8 full days on the ‘road’. Abyssinia is huge, and it feels like there are four or even five different countries… Chaotic and contemporary Addis; medieval Islamic Harar; almost untouched by, what we call, civilisation, tribes of Lower Omo Valley; Christian, holly, rock hewn, Lalibela; salt mountains, sulphurous geysers, permanent lava lake and afar salt miners in hottest place on earth – Danakil.
